History & Significance
Fatehpur Sikri was built by Akbar in the late 16th century as his capital. Abandoned after only 14 years due to water scarcity, it remains one of the best-preserved Mughal complexes. The Buland Darwaza is the tallest gateway in the world.
Visiting Rules & Guidelines
- Mobile phones and cameras are strictly prohibited inside the temple premises.
- Remove shoes before entering the temple.
- Dress modestly — avoid shorts, sleeveless tops, and revealing clothing.
- Leather items (belts, bags) may not be allowed inside.
- Follow the queue system and maintain decorum.
- Peak hours (morning opening and evening aarti) are the most crowded. Plan accordingly.
