History & Significance
The Government Museum at Mathura, established in 1874, houses one of the finest collections of Mathura School of Art sculptures dating back to the Kushan and Gupta periods (2nd-6th century AD). The collection includes Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain artifacts.
Visiting Rules & Guidelines
- Mobile phones and cameras are strictly prohibited inside the temple premises.
- Remove shoes before entering the temple.
- Dress modestly — avoid shorts, sleeveless tops, and revealing clothing.
- Leather items (belts, bags) may not be allowed inside.
- Follow the queue system and maintain decorum.
- Peak hours (morning opening and evening aarti) are the most crowded. Plan accordingly.
