Kusum Sarovar

Govardhan, Uttar Pradesh

About Kusum Sarovar

Kusum Sarovar is a beautiful sandstone reservoir near Govardhan Hill, associated with Radha and Krishna's divine pastimes. It is believed that Radha Rani and the gopis collected flowers (kusum) here for Krishna.

The grand cenotaph-style architecture built in Rajasthani style makes it one of the most picturesque places in Braj.

History

The current structure was built in the 18th century by the Jat rulers of Bharatpur. It is an important stop during Govardhan Parikrama.
